Fontanafredda

Since it was founded in 1858 by King Vittorio Emanuele II as a gift to his mistress, Rosa Vercellana, Fontanafredda has become one of the most renowned wineries in Italy. The estate covers over 250 acres of vineyards, with a focus on traditional Piedmontese grape varieties. In the capable hands of Oscar Farinetti, founder of the Eataly chain of Slow Food restaurants, the winery found its true fame. Over the years, Fontanafredda has been dedicated to producing high quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Langhe region. From its signature Barolo wines to its elegant Barbaresco and Barbera d'Alba, Fontanafredda's wines have won numerous awards and accolades for their quality and craftsmanship. In addition to its wine production, Fontanafredda also offers a range of hospitality services, including a hotel, restaurant, and wine tasting experiences. The winery is committed to sustainable agriculture and has implemented a range of environmentally friendly practises, including the use of renewable energy and the reduction of chemical inputs.
