Turbiana

The prized white grape of Lugana, Turbiana is often mistaken for Verdicchio but possesses a unique identity. Native to northern Italy, it produces fresh, mineral-driven wines with notes of green apple, citrus, and almond, often with a saline finish. Naturally high in acidity, it ages beautifully, developing honeyed and nutty complexity over time. Traditionally vinified in stainless steel to preserve purity, some producers experiment with oak and lees aging to enhance depth. Its elegant balance of freshness and structure makes it one of Italy’s most distinctive white varieties, particularly in the refined, terroir-expressive wines of Lugana DOC.
