Introducing El Porvenir de Cafayate: A High-Altitude Gem Joins Enotria’s Portfolio

We are delighted to announce that Enotria is now representing Bodegas El Porvenir de Cafayate, one of Argentina’s most dynamic and terroir-driven wineries. With its unique high-altitude vineyards, sustainable ethos and pioneering spirit, El Porvenir enriches our portfolio with a compelling vision of Cafayate.

A winery defined by altitude & identity

Situated at over 1,700 meters above sea level in the Calchaquí Valley (making it one of the highest vineyard regions in the world), the winery benefits from a unique terroir of extreme altitude, intense sunlight, and wide diurnal temperature swings. This results in wines with vibrant acidity, concentrated fruit and strong varietal character - particularly in their flagship Torrontés and Malbec.

Lucía Romero Marcuzzi.jpg

Led by Lucía Romero Marcuzzi, El Porvenir combines heart and tradition with innovation, producing wines that showcase both the region’s heritage, the dramatic and varied micro-terroirs and modern winemaking techniques.

A philosophy of balance, innovation & community

At the heart of El Porvenir is a profound commitment to sustainability, community, and innovation. The winery practices integrated and organic viticulture, and is certified under the Bodegas de Argentina Sustainability Protocol.

With their focus on sustainable viticulture, hand-harvested grapes, and small-batch production, their wines consistently receive international recognition with a variety of range options ideal for mid - premium wine lists or specialty retail.

Lucía Romero Marcuzzi is not just a winemaker but a visionary entrepreneur. Under her leadership, the estate supports local initiatives - from scholarships and community artisan craft projects to work-inclusion programs. Above all, she seeks an equilibrium between the land and the community.

Terroir that speaks volumes

El Porvenir’s estate is composed of several distinct fincas (vineyards), each contributing its own personality:

  • Finca El Retiro: The most historic parcel, with pergola-trained vines - many over 65 years old - yielding Torrontés, Marsanne, Chardonnay, Semillón and more.
  • Finca Río Seco: Set on sandy and rocky former river-bed soils, planted with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Tannat, Syrah and Petit Verdot.
  • Finca Alto Los Cuises: High on the slopes of the Sierra del Quilmes, this biodiverse vineyard uses terrace planting inspired by Inca methods and is home to Malbec and Chardonnay.
  • Finca Alto Río Seco & Piedramonte: Rugged, rocky landscapes with steep slopes; low-yielding vines deliver concentrated red varieties with real purity.

This mosaic of sites, combined with El Porvenir’s low-intervention and sustainable viticulture, allows them to craft wines that are expressive, elegant and deeply rooted in their place. Every wine is hand-harvested, double-sorted and vinified with care to preserve purity and character.
