Touriga Nacional

Portugal’s most prestigious red grape, Touriga Nacional is the backbone of both Port and dry Douro wines. Deeply colored and highly aromatic, it delivers intense black fruit, violet, and spice notes, often with firm tannins and excellent aging potential. Though naturally low-yielding, it produces concentrated, complex wines that benefit from oak aging. Touriga Nacional is increasingly used for structured, world-class reds outside of fortified wine production, showcasing Portugal’s ability to craft age-worthy, expressive wines. Whether in powerful blends or as a single varietal, it remains one of the Iberian Peninsula’s greatest grapes.
