Cortese

Best known as the grape behind Gavi, Cortese produces crisp, mineral-driven white wines with bright acidity and elegant citrus and floral aromas. Notes of lemon, green apple, and almond define its profile, often with a slight saline edge from its northern Italian terroir. Though typically vinified in a fresh, unoaked style, some producers experiment with barrel aging to enhance texture and complexity. Naturally structured and refreshing, it pairs exceptionally well with seafood and light dishes. Once overshadowed by more famous Italian whites, high-quality Gavi wines showcase Cortese’s ability to balance delicacy with depth, making it a standout varietal.
