Tasting note

Gloriously complex aroma of peaches and oranges, developing into jasmine and honeysuckle notes. After the detailed delicacy of the nose, the massive, stony presence of the palate comes as a surprise. It's concentrated, powerful and intense, and not yet giving much away. There’s definitely more to come here, with a hint of clover honey on the finish offering a glimpse of future greatness.

In the press

96/100 - The 2024 St. Remigiusberg Laubenheimer Riesling Trocken is pure, deep and intense yet precise and stony on the nose that displays dried mandarin zest notes mingled with saline and lemony notes. Full-bodied, complex and enormously saline on the palate, this is an intense yet pure and crunchy, very long and mouthwatering Riesling with very fine tannins and great aging capacity. Drink 2025-2050.
Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
96/100 - This is a tangerine dream, but so subtle and very racy. Simultaneously succulent and stony, which sounds like a contradiction in terms, this is a very fascinating expression of this site’s unique personality. The more it aerates, the more it turns in the direction of orange blossoms. Then comes a haunting whiff of smokiness that seals the deal in the finish. Drink from release.

Viticulture

Weingut Tesch was an early adopter of environmentally friendly viticulture and unstinting care for the vineyards. The estate's dedication to sustainability means that it works without the use of herbicides, insecticides or mineral fertilizers.

Vinification

Riesling grown without the use of herbicides, insecticides or mineral fertilisers on weathered volcanic rock and iron-infused clay soil, in one of the Nahe's smallest vineyard sites, named after the prince-bishop of Reims, who was canonised after his death. Fermented and matured on the fine lees entirely in stainless steel.

Food Match

This wine fits Asian cuisine, Sushi in particular, Poultry, matured beef. Especially if the wine ages for a few years it matches matured cheese and more intense flavours.
