In the press

99/100 - All Tempranillo but from a combination of vintages, 2007, 2010, and 2012 in this case, the NV 88 CVC Tercera Generacion was made from manually harvested grapes, intended to celebrate and pay homage to Guillermo Eguren. It is the third edition of the wine, which spent an average of nine years in French oak barrels, the vintages kept separate before blending in June 2019 and bottling in September that same year. Soft, supple baked and dried fruit are sumptuously layered across integrated oak and tannin for a unique experience of exceptional quality and length. The label, a portrait of Eguren, is from an oil painting by Tokyo-based artist Yukimasa Ida. Drink now and for the next 20 years.

Viticulture

The CVC is made from 100% Tempranillo, grown on the 1.49 hectare San Pelayo estate in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. The tiny plot has sandy, lime clay, non-compacting alkaline soil, with optimal conditions to produce high quality grapes. The C/N level is slightly high so biological life in the soil is very active.

Vinification

Each of the vintages has been aged separately in new French oak barrels, obtaining their unique purity and personality. The average ageing of thethree vintages has been 98 months, just over 8 years. The final assembly of this marvelous puzzle was made in June 2019 and bottled in September 2019.
