Heady, fragrant Pinot Gris, dry yet packed with fruit, with a touch of smokiness on the finish.
Viticulture
The Trimbach family’s winemaking dates back to 1626 with Jean Trimbach in Riquewihr. Their vineyards around Ribeauvillé benefit from the Vosges’ protective microclimate and the Ribeauvillé fault line’s diverse soils, including limestone and fossilized seashells. Trimbach Réserves come from old vines, producing complex wines with great aging potential.
Vinification
The Reserve quality is from parcel selections of old vines around Ribeauvillé (around 35 years old) which produces a more complex wine destined for a longer laying down. After harvesting, the grapes are brought directly to the winery where they are fermented in stainless steel and bottled early without malolactic fermentation.
Food Match
The selection of very ripe grapes allows this Pinot Gris Réserve to match wonderfully with exotic, Asiatic and Japanese food. It really comes into its own with terrines, foie gras, smoked fish, fish in sauce (notably salmon) and white meats.
