Tasting note
Dense purple in colour, with fabulous aroma concentration of black fruit, brandy, spices and mineral nuances. On the palate it is well structured, powerful, very expressive, creamy, rich and aromatic with smooth tannins. This will drink marvellously immediately, and also age gracefully should you wish to cellar it.
Viticulture
100% ungrafted Tinta de Toro vines, aged between 45 and more than 100 years of age. Head-trained in goblets.
Vinification
Traditional method with 100% de-stemmed grapes fermented for 10 days in open French oak vats using indigenous yeast from the estate’s vineyards. Gently foot-pressed with daily pump-overs, the wine remains on skins for 21 days at 26-28°C. Malolactic fermentation and 20 months of ageing take place in new French oak Bordelaise barrels.
