Tinta de Toro

A powerful Spanish clone of Tempranillo, Tinta de Toro thrives in the hot, arid conditions of Toro, producing intensely concentrated wines. Its thick skin results in deep color, bold tannins, and high alcohol, making it one of Spain’s most robust red expressions. Flavors of dark berries, black plum, and spice dominate, with age bringing notes of tobacco, leather, and cocoa. Naturally structured and long-lived, it requires careful winemaking to balance its strength with elegance. Compared to Rioja’s Tempranillo, Tinta de Toro is fuller-bodied and more tannic, showcasing the rugged terroir of Castilla y León.
