Tasting note
Rich Douro red, powerful yet elegant, with a bouquet of violets, cassis and black cherries and flavours like a bowlful of fruit.
Viticulture
Xisto is a special selection of the finest grapes from older vines to give a more concentrated, expressive and ageworthy wine. 35 year old vines. East-North aspect at 120-450m. Patamares (terraces) with two rows of vines.
Vinification
The winemaking is undeniably French in its inspiration, with higher fermentation temperatures to maximise extraction, and exclusive use of French oak barriques in which the wine is aged for 20 months. The wine combines the unique spicy character of the Douro with the finesse of a Cru Classé Bordeaux – a truly sublime combination.
