Tasting note
Elderflower, citrus and pea pod notes lead into a vibrant, textured midpalate, making this ideal alone or with food. With age, mineral and flinty flavours emerge. La Berry is mainly Sauvignon Blanc from cool-climate Elgin, with Semillon and old-vine Chenin Blanc adding texture and complexity.
Viticulture
Produced from meticulously farmed vineyards that span the Cape Winelands and offer a unique an exploration of Meinert's unique terroir. Precision farming allows us to farm vine-for-vine and berry-by-berry.
Vinification
Minimal cellar intervention highlights Meinert’s terroir. Sauvignon Blanc sees skin contact, Semillon is whole-bunch pressed and barrel fermented in seasoned oak, while Chenin Blanc receives Meinert’s signature treatment. Careful blending creates a balanced wine that captures the character and harmony of the Cape Winelands.
Food Match
Perfect as aperitif , or match with delicate dishes like fresh seafood salads, oysters and even tuna tartare with a very subtle wasabi sauce.
