Tasting note
This fine Nebbiolo presents the joys of aged Barolo at a fraction of the price. Characteristic of the variety, it has a matured brick-red colour, and a delicate spiciness, alongside appetising roasted chestnut and beeswax notes. Mellow and complete on the palate, with rounded, velvety tannins, this is absolutely delicious.
Vinification
Nebbiolo vines grown on well-situated, mid-slope vineyards in Vezza d'Alba Montaldo and Monteu Roero, with soils composed of yellow sand interspersed with calcareous marl and gravel. The grapes are fermented and macerated for 10-12 days at 28° C, then aged in a combination of stainless steel, amphora and barrel, followed by several months in bottles.
Food Match
Well suited to complex fine dishes where red meats are the focus of the dish. Also suited to seasoned cheese and truffles.
