Tasting note
Ruby-red wine with a bright purple rim and aromas of strawberries, cherries and warm spice. Juicy on the palate, bursting with red fruits over smooth, well-integrated fine tannins. The finish is long and fruity.
Viticulture
The old vines, averaging at least 25 years old, are grown on sandy clay soils known locally in the Loire Valley as the Sables de Sologne with its unique gravelly topsoil.
Vinification
The Gamay grapes are picked late, allowing the skins to fully ripen. The grapes are crushed and then whole bunch fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks for between six to nine months before being blended into the final wine. The result is a true sense of place, evoking the vivacity typical of the Loire.
Food Match
Pan-fried duck, moussaka, lamb tagine, falafel, mushrooms stir fried with soy, or tomato bread with jamón serrano.
