Contratto

The Contratto cellars were carved into the limestone underneath the winery and the vineyards in the 1860s. The labyrinthine cellars are now recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site, while the winery is famous as a pioneer of non-Champagne sparkling wines. Their Moscato and Asti sparkling wines, made according to the Champagne method, were incredibly popular worldwide at the beginning of the 20th century. These historic export agreements are the reason behind the "For England" label on the Blanc de Noir Pas Dosé to this day. Since the Rivetti family bought Contratto in 2011, they have employed their signature elan to take Contratto to new heights and have invested in new vineyards, particularly focusing on high altitude plantings of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
