Babylonstoren

A contemporary and innovative estate in the heart of Paarl, Babylonstoren seamlessly brings together wine, fresh produce, landscaped gardens and luxury hospitality - including its UK sister property, The Newt in Somerset. With origins dating back to 1692, the estate has been meticulously restored by the Bekker family since 2007. Today, 88 hectares are under vine, with 13 grape varieties grown on slopes reaching up to 600 metres on the Simonsberg. While grapes have long been cultivated on the farm, the first Babylonstoren-labelled wines were released in 2011, under the expert leadership of cellar master Charl Coetzee and winemaker Klaas Stoffberg. These wines combine heritage, precision and a strong sense of place.
