Tasting note
One of the Mosel's steepest vineyards, Wehlener Sonnenuhr ('Sundial') has almost no topsoil - the ground is instead covered by shards of pure blue slate, from which Riesling vines eke out a living, perched precariously above the river below. The legendary JJ Prum is one of the region's finest producers, and the wines show irresistibly charming peach fruit and clover honey notes when young, while having the capacity to age for decades. A fully ripe, rich bottling, this Spätlese has impeccable balance of acidity to sweetness, and soaring, airy aromas.

97/100 - The 2022 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese is deep, intense and complex on the saline and mineral nose that shows ripe, bright as well as yellow stone fruit aromas intertwined with floral and seed notes. Dense and juicy on the savory and crystalline palate, this is a clear, pure and tensioned Spätlese with a long, salivating saline, almost dry and lemon-fresh finish. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork.
