Tasting note
Delicately delicious Grand Cru Riesling from a famous Alsace estate, juicy with white nectarines, vibrant with lemon zest and with a splash of sea spray on the finish.
Viticulture
In 2012, Trimbach acquired 5 acres of Grand Cru Schlossberg, debuting with the 2014 vintage. Situated below a forest on south-facing terraces, the vineyard's granitic soils and cool microclimate yield distinct terroir. The crystalline 2016 vintage used late-harvested, handpicked grapes gently pressed and fermented in steel vats for 3-4 weeks.
Vinification
The wine is not oak-aged, and is vinified to complete dryness with no residual sugar. Bottling is done early to preserve freshness, and the wine rests in bottle in the cellar for several years before being released ensuring the wine is both ready to drink upon release but also can be cellared.
Food Match
Pairs with pork in sauce, coconut marinade, or plum-caramel to reveal elegant granitic terroir aromas. Match with citrus-honey veal to unlock spices, or finish with a "Timbale Marly" chestnut mousse dessert.
