Tasting note
Intense ruby, complex bouquet with highly elegant red fruits. Powerful and concentrated on the palate with sweet balanced tannins and a very long, fine, finish. This will age very well.
In the press
Slightly cloudy dark ruby. Very neat, nicely integrated nose with definite freshness. Some mineral/iodine/oyster-shell undertow. Very grown-up wine with no suggestion of heat. Bone-dry finish. Cries out for food. Meat probably as the tannins are still in evidence. Just light sweetness that denotes fully ripe fruit. Drink 2019-2032
Viticulture
The 2008 season was a cooler-than-average year that began with a damp spring, causing a 20% reduction in yield due to disrupted flowering. A long, temperate ripening period followed, which allowed for exceptional phenolic maturity and preserved a vibrant freshness often lacking in warmer Tuscan years
