Tasting note
Indulge in the dark purple allure of Farvie Syrah. Aromas of whortleberry, aronia, and purple grape lead to notes of clove, star anise, lily, musk, leather, and iron. The palate is super-refined, intensely flavoured, and succulent, with delicate powdery tannins. Evolving gracefully over 15 years, this wine harmoniously embodies greatness.
In the press
Discover the allure of Farvie's 2019 vintage - a continuation of excellence. Following the remarkable 2018 debut of Farvie Grenache and Syrah, each boasting 19.5/20 and 19/20 scores, anticipation mounts. Did the cooler 2019 climate eclipse their brilliance, succumbing to the 'second album syndrome'? Rejoice, as this vintage's lower yields birthed an exceptional savory spice essence in both wines. The glossy refinement of 2018 gives way to 2019's profound depth, precision, and tantalizing texture. Farvie Syrah flourishes, meriting a near-perfect 19.5 rating, while Farvie Grenache commands a mighty 19. Red fruit dances amidst the core, a departure from black fruit-dominant counterparts. Unlike warm-clime Syrahs and Grenaches, these exhibit uniquely red, earthy intricacy, a testament to Swinney's vineyards and Mann's winemaking. Crafted meticulously from single picks and blocks, a mere 176 cases of each exist. Elevate your cellar with these unmatched treasures.
Viticulture
Bush vine cultivation is Swinney's fervor, yielding incredibly site-specific fruit with laborious dedication. Handcrafted with care, the payoff is in lower yields and exceptional results.
Vinification
Hand-picked from 21-year-old Syrah vines on ironstone gravel soil, our wine boasts 55% whole-bunch wild fermentation for a unique structure, bright aromas, and a touch of spice. Aged for 11 months in large format French oak (35% new), with minimal sulphites, no fining, and light filtration.
Food Match
This bold, spice-driven wine pairs perfectly with intense slow-roasted barbecue pork. Consider a rich, umami-filled pork shoulder. Enhance flavours by seasoning with pepper and cumin to complement the wine's fruity notes
