Tasting note
Aromas of dark berries like such as blueberries, cassis and blackberries, and floral notes which are the result of the cold year. The subtle chalky notes add complexity. This Malbec offers good natual acidity and excellent alcohol balance. Good flow of very fine tannins, compact and intense.
In the press
The 2019 Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade Malbec was produced with grapes from Paraje Altamira (Finca La Delfina), but each year it can be sourced from different vineyards, hence the "nómade" in the name. The vineyard is around 25 years old, and the grapes fermented in a 6,500-liter oak vat with indigenous yeasts and had a 30- to 35-day maceration time, then matured in French oak barrels, 80% of them new, for 16 months, including malolactic. There's something earthy about it, and it's still marked by the oak and has some lactic undertones too but with moderate ripeness, 14% alcohol and very good freshness and balance to develop nicely in bottle and absorb it.
Viticulture
Traditional viticultural practices used.
Vinification
Grapes were refrigerated at 8°C for 24 hours before crushing. Double selection of bunches then cold maceration for four days. Fermentation in 6,500-liter (1,700-gal) oak casks. Push-downs were performed. Fermentation at 28°-30°C, with wild yeasts. Post-fermentation maceration lasted 30-35 days. Malolactic fermentation occurred in barrels.
Food Match
