Tasting note

Vibrant fruit dominates the aroma, palate, and length. Earthy spice blends into the well-structured, balanced profile. Ripe tannins offer immediate enjoyment or potential cellaring for 10+ years. Fresh and vibrant, with elegance and beauty.

In the press

Rojomoma's Wild Scarlet Shiraz leverages Sam Kurtz's intuitive winemaking into creating an affordable, estate-level creation, but with a couple of his trademark flourishes that you expect to find on his more expensive wines. While this wine is ripe, glossy and pure, with an actively forward air, there is an impressive degree of complexity, which has been tempered so as not to slow the wine down, beneath the bonnet. This means that while this is a precocious Shiraz, it sacrifices nothing in length or amplitude of fruit flavours, resulting in a grand vin framework with immediate drinking flavours.
Matthew Jukes, 100 Best Australian Wines 2023/24

Viticulture

Handpicked fruit from hand pruned vines located in the hamlet of Ebeneezer in the north of the Barossa Valley. These Shiraz vines are 20 years old.

Vinification

Ferment is intitiated with indigenous yeast in open fermenters then gently basket pressed. Following fermetation the wine is matured in seasoned French oak.

Food Match

Wild Scarlet Shiraz is a great match for rich tomato based dishes, vegetarian pasta or a lamb ragu.
