Tasting note
This superb Etna wine is made from 100% Carricante, and has generous, juicy notes of yellow plums and peaches and mountain herbs, balanced by the lemony acidity and structure conferred by the variety, the high altitude and the soil composed of basalt and black volcanic ash. Entirely from the Montelaguardia vineyard, in the contrada of Taccione.

93/100 - Here's a new submission from the fine folks at Planeta. Their organic 2023 Etna Bianco Contrada Taccione is a fleshed-out expression of Carricante with stone fruit, Golden Delicious apple and a hint of creamy sweetness on its medium-bodied finish. Aging sees 80% stainless steel and 20% oak in larger oak casks and a bit of tonneaux. The wine's subtle softness is matched to salty sensations from lava sand soils that are rich in minerals at 690 to 720 meters above sea level. Drink 2024-2030.

Organically-grown fruit, with ground cover to promote a healthy soil ecosystem, and only biological or topical applications to protect against pests and diseases.
Food Match
A white wine for all seasons. Good as an aperitif, but excellent with starters based on fish and pasta.
