Tasting note
Brilliant pale straw with green hints. Aromatic white florals and kaffir lime signal an excellent vintage. Crisp and acid-driven, with fresh lime and citrus flavours, mouth-watering balance and impressive length. The 36th Traditionale release is concentrated, age-worthy and enjoyable now or after 10+ years in cellar.
In the press
2024 Pikes Traditionale Riesling was included in my Finest Fifty Wines of 2025 Report, and this is a very rare accolade, given I taste upwards of thirty thousand wines per year. This is the finest value, inexpensive, classic, dry Riesling in the UK right now. It is electrifying, downright delicious, and you ought to buy as much as you can carry. It will also age well for a couple of years, too.
Vinification
The family vineyard site at Polish Hill is unique, with tough acidic soils on top of 650 million year-old dark grey siltstone of the Kadlunga Slate formation. Made with minimal intervention, 100% free-run juice of the highest quality, fermented with neutral yeast and lees-aged for three months in stainless steel.
