Tasting note

A joyful exhibition of tropical fruit, honey dew melon, and citrus blossoms. Medium bodied, tropical fruit and melons follow through to the palate joined by stone fruit. The textural quality of Fiano shines through, providing a lovely softness that complements the bright flavours and acid line.

In the press

...my headliner had to be the brilliant Luccio, which shines a breathtaking spotlight on the Fiano grape variety...similarly shaped to a Clare Riesling with a javelin-like entry and a long, slick body, but there the similarities end. The fruit notes are fleshier and more floral, with stone fruit, pear and citrus peel interspersed with wild herbs and scouring hints of herbaceous saltbush. This is a highly involving and complex wine with a happy-go-lucky air, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously despite the intricacy of its offering! If you haven’t yet filed the Fiano grape in your taste memory, this is a brilliant place to start.

Vinification

Grown in the Pikes Polish Hill River vineyard and Leasingham vineyard, which produce fruit with natural acidity and concentrated flavours. Southern Italy's Fiano variety has a strong future in Clare Valley.

Food Match

Extremely versatile in food pairing, but for a truly great match, look to Fiano’s Sicilian roots for inspiration and what may be Sicily’s greatest gift to the world, Arancini.
