Tasting note
Zweigelt is an underrated grape variety and this example is bursting with black cherries and black plums, with a hint of spice on the finish.
Viticulture
Niederösterreich is the region around the capital Vienna and is Austria's largest wine-growing area with loess soils, hot days and cool nights. Zweigelt has pronounced fruit aromas: cherry and sour cherry, a variety of berries plus a discreet spiciness.This grape variety was raised in Austria and remains the most important grape for Austrian red wine.
Vinification
The grapes were destemmed and crushed then macerated for 4 hours before being gently pressed under low pressure by a pneumatic press. Fermentation took place with automatic temperature control at 18°C. The wine was matured in stainless steel tanks before being bottled in the Pfaffl cellar.
Food Match
A delicious and versatile food accompaniment. Fascinating with steak, but also perfect with tomato-based pasta dishes and pizza as well as a variety of meat dishes. A true all-rounder.
