Tasting note
A sleek, modern Sforzato with ripe blackberry, wild raspberry and dark plum, layered with violet, liquorice, cocoa and sweet spice. Polished oak adds vanilla and mocha, while bright alpine acidity cuts through the richness. Firm, fine tannins frame a long, savoury, balsamic finish. Powerful yet poised, with a cool, mineral edge emerging as it opens.
Unique Selling Point
Mountain viticulture approached with the detail and care of the greatest maisons.
Vineyard
Vineyards in the Valtellina Doc and DOCG appellations, on the slopes of Rhetian Alps, along the right side of Adda river. South facing, ataltitudes between 300 and 550 metres above sea level.
Viticulture
Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) is grown on the steep, terraced slopes of Valtellina, where the alpine climate, altitude and rocky, well-drained soils encourage slow ripening and preserve acidity. Grapes are hand-harvested, with careful selection of healthy, fully ripened bunches destined for drying.
Vinification
Hand-harvested Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) grapes are dried for several weeks to concentrate sugars, aromas and extract. After crushing, the grapes undergo fermentation with extended skin maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then matured in oak, developing depth, structure, spice and a polished, savoury character.
Food Match
Red meats, game and mature cheeses.
