Tasting note
Knipser’s ‘Blauer Spätburgunder’ Pinot Noir bridges Burgundy elegance and New Zealand charm. Aromas of cherry and red berries mingle with savory notes, while a supple palate reveals vibrant fruit and depth. Sourced from estate vineyards around Laumersheim, it offers both immediate pleasure and lasting complexity.

Vinified in old barriques, tonneaux and halbstücks, the 2016 Blauer Spätburgunder Trocken is fine and intense on the aromatic, cherry-scented and even concentrated nose with floral and toasty notes. Very sexy. Fine, fresh and lean on the palate, this is a straight yet intense and super aromatic Pinot with tart fruit and tannins. A Best Buy at this price. Tasted at the domaine in March 2020.
Vinification
Grapes were selecitvely hand-picked and underwent traditional fermentation on the skins, followed by maturation for 12 months maturation in pre-seasoned barriques.
Food Match
Gruyère de Comté and Spätburgunder can form a perfect cheese and a wine pair. If that doesn't tickle you, try roasted mushrooms.
