Tasting note
Rich and layered with dried apricot, vanilla and honey, this iconic Stellenbosch Chenin Blanc is crafted from a careful selection of up to 10 harvests through the same vineyard, picking bunches at their peak. Naturally fermented in French oak (around 50% new) and aged for a year on the lees, it is full bodied and textured with a long, bright finish. Will gain additional complexity with cellaring.
Vineyard
Sourced from a single Stellenbosch vineyard of bush vines planted in 1970, grown on Clovelly soils with a south-south-west aspect. Low yields and the age of the vines concentrate flavour and intensity in every bunch.
Viticulture
100% Chenin Blanc from bush vines planted in 1970 on Clovelly soils in Stellenbosch, oriented south-south-west. Low yields and multiple selective passes through the vineyard ensure only the finest fruit makes the final blend.
Vinification
100% Chenin Blanc sourced from bush vines on Clovelly soils in Stellenbosch. Grapes are hand selected across up to 10 passes through the vineyard, harvested at peak ripeness. Naturally fermented in French oak barriques, approximately 50% new, and aged for 12 months on the lees.
Food Match
Perfect with spiced seafood, shellfish and mild curries. Also brilliant as a standalone aperitif with good friends and something worth celebrating.
