Tasting note
Made entirely from Sangiovese, Rialzi 2016 is powerful yet refined, with a bright ruby-red hue. The bouquet is complex and balanced, revealing ripe berries, violet and sweet spice, layered with notes of toasted coffee and tobacco. Richly structured and vibrant, it showcases the elegance and depth of this celebrated Brunello vineyard.
Viticulture
From Tenuta Perano in Gaiole in Chianti, Sangiovese is grown on high-altitude hillside vineyards (500–600 m a.s.l.) with galestro and alberese soils. South-west exposure and strong day–night shifts ensure slow ripening. Sustainable vineyard practices and hand harvesting preserve acidity, aromatics, and varietal precision and long ageing potential.
Vinification
Hand-harvested Sangiovese grapes carefully selected before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Gentle skin maceration and pump-overs ensured optimal extraction. The wine then matured for 36 months, including 24 months in barrique, followed by extended bottle ageing before release, enhancing complexity and structure.
