Tasting note
Deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose offers ripe black cherry, wild berries and plum, complemented by subtle earthy, herbal and savoury notes. The palate is vibrant and fruit-driven, with refreshing acidity, supple tannins and a distinctive rustic character. The finish is persistent, revealing dark fruit and gentle spice.
Viticulture
Made from 100% Montepulciano grapes organically cultivated around Atri in Abruzzo, on clay and limestone soils. The vines are managed with a low-intervention philosophy, avoiding synthetic chemicals. Grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected to preserve fruit purity and varietal expression.
Vinification
Grapes are boxed, de-stemmed and gently crushed at the cellar. Fermentation occurs in clay amphoras using indigenous yeasts, with quick plunging to avoid harsh tannins. After a 12-day maceration, skins are softly pressed. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages in the amphoras for 12 months before being bottled.
Food Match
Pair with a dish of rustic, smokey northern sausage, polenta and fresh fennel salad.
