Tasting note
Aromas of freshly cracked black pepper mingle with concentrated dark fruit on the nose. The palate is full-bodied and richly textured, supported by a firm yet refined tannin structure. The wine concludes with a powerful finish, leaving a long, savoury impression.
Viticulture
Sourced from one of the closest vineyards to the ocean, these meticulously maintained vines benefit from the cooling maritime influence. With only two bunches per spur, yields are intentionally limited to maximise flavour intensity. A small parcel from high-density plantings in Franschhoek adds concentration, tannin and acidity.
Vinification
The grapes were destemmed and kept as whole berries before fermentation in stainless steel tanks with two gentle pump-overs per day. Dried stems were reintroduced during fermentation to enhance aromatic complexity and contribute a lifted, perfumed character. Following pressing, the wine was matured for 12 months in oak barrels, 20% of which were new.
