95/100 - The 2021 El Tiznado feels young, aromatic and a bit creamy, ripe and juicy, dense and full-bodied, with abundant, fine-grained and chalky tannins. It's a powerful and elegant Tempranillo from vines planted in 1923, a plot called El Hoyo in the village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra on red limestone soils at 500 meters in altitude. The destemmed grapes fermented in small oak vats for 21 days, followed by malolactic and élevage in 228-liter French oak barrels for 18 months. 1,186 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2023.
