Tasting note
Vibrant and penetrating with a beautifully perfumed aroma of crunchy pomegranate, mulberry and summer pudding. An inky palate with texture and verve framed by lip smacking saturated tannins. Tastes of maraschino cherries, blueberries and salted liquorice with precise ripeness and a near perfect balance of density and freshness.

94/100 - The 2019 Rocket's Vineyard Tempranillo Malbec (62/38) is a continuation of the “Tempranillo Malbec Cabernet Sauvignon” (2016 to 2018) and the “Red” (2013 and 2014) before that. The nose is redolent with poached strawberries, salted licorice, yellow plums and graphite. This is detailed and aromatic, lithe and spicy, with sumac and togarashi through the finish. It has a sumptuous, satisfying mid-palate that’s finer and lighter than the 2018, but the seasons were very different. So, a mirror image of the year is a nice thing to behold in a single-vineyard wine. Triumph above the season! Lovely. Drink 2023-2035
Viticulture
The fruit is dry grown and farmed under organic principles by former Australian Test Cricketer Tony “Rocket” Mann, Robert and Genevieve Mann. Tony Mann and his son Rob planted the vineyard together on their family property in the Swan Valley more than 35 years ago.
Vinification
The grapes were hand harvested on the same day, individually berry sorted prior to carbonic maceration and natural co-fermentation in a single French oak vat. Maturation followed in the same French oak vat for 10 months.
