Tasting note
Fracture pays tribute to the Booker estate’s limestone soils, which fracture under pressure rather than crumble. Found in top wine regions, limestone shapes this wine’s power. The 2021 vintage shows blueberries, iodine, and leather on the nose, with velvety flavours of kola nut and forest floor, finishing with remarkable poise, depth, and structure.
Viticulture
Organically farmed (CCOF) by hand on our thin calcareous soils in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles, California.
Vinification
Hand-harvested at night for optimal freshness, grapes were meticulously destemmed and sorted with our optical sorter. Gently transferred to tanks by gravity, the fruit avoided pumping to preserve integrity. Fermentation lasted 12–14 days in stainless steel, promoting balance. Aged 18 months in 60% new French oak, the wine gained structure and finesse.
Food Match
This bold Syrah pairs perfectly with hearty dishes like grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, or pepper-crusted lamb chops. Its deep fruit and firm tannins also shine with smoked mushroom ragout or lentil stew with roasted root vegetables.
