Tasting note
Powerfully blackcurranty wine, spilling over with fruit, fragrant with intertwining aromas of vanilla and spice.
Viticulture
Chateau Phelan Segur's 70ha vineyard boasts 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 1.5% Cabernet Franc, and 1.5% Petit Verdot. Terroir: gravel, sand, clay. Vines span 35-70 years, densely planted at 8,500/ha.
Vinification
Hand-harvested grapes undergo careful selection and optical sorting. Fermentation lasts about 12 days with customized techniques for each batch. 20-day maceration for quality extraction. After pressing and separation, malolactic fermentation begins in barrels. Blending in winter, minimum 12 months ageing. Max 50% new barrels.
Food Match
Chateau Phelan Segur shines at 15.5°C, enhancing its freshness. Enjoy it with classic meat dishes—veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, and game—whether roasted, braised, stewed, or grilled. This wine also complements a variety of Asian courses.
