Tasting note
A focused, serious wine with an expressive nose of red berries, spice, and rose petals, showcasing the quality of the estate's Cabernet Franc. The palate is deep with rich fruit, silky tannins and a long finish. Excellent suff from Stephan Von Neipperg.
Viticulture
Located on the pied de côte (foot of the slope) south of the medieval village of St-Émilion, the terroir consists of clay-limestone and clay-sand soil that is very permeable and particularly efficient at retaining heat. The choice of grape varieties is rather atypical for the appellation in light of the soil: a 50/50 divide between Merlot and Cabernet.
Vinification
Fermented in wooden vats for 35 days and aged in 60% new oak barrels on the lees for 16 months. Bottled unfined at the château.
