Tasting note

One of Pomerol's finest estates - extremely well-situated, and has benefited greatly from the investment and dedication of Denis Durantou. The wine is fabulous: showing exceptional intensity and purity when young, with a sophistication to the tannins. Over time, it develops layer upon layer of gorgeously mature complexity.

In the press

18/20 - Beautifully ripe fruit with some raspberry aroma as well as blackcurrant. Sumptuous oak spices, lovely meaty notes too – this is showing really well, with effortless charm and many layers of complexity on the length. Drink 2015-2035.

97/100 - On the nose, the l’Eglise-Clinet 2008 is much broodier and introspective than its peers, the Cabernet Franc imparting seductive truffle and undergrowth aromas. It displays impressive intensity, a nose that is full of character. The palate is full-bodied with lush, saturated tannins that belie a firm backbone. This Pomerol has impressive acidity and depth: “spherical” at first, but those tannins come through with time in the glass. It has beautifully integrated oak with a seamless, classy finish. This is an enigmatic, alluring Pomerol wine.
