Tasting note
Spicy, alluring Bordeaux red, offering an insistent perfume of wildflower and a mouthful of blackcurrant.
Viticulture
The vines at Château Desmirail average 25 years in age and span around 40 hectares. Planted on deep gravel soils formed by Pyrenean pebbles carried by the Garonne, the vineyard lies on well-drained terraces. It is spread across three Margaux communes: Cantenac, Arsac, and Soussans.
Vinification
Vinification uses both oak and stainless steel vats, with oak preferred for older plots. Traditional methods allow gentle extraction tailored to each variety. Wines mature in barrel for a year, with at least 30% new oak for the Grand Vin. Racked every three months, then blended and clarified with egg white before bottling.
