Tasting note
Aromas of rose petals, pomelo, quince, apple blossoms and spices. The palate is light-bodied with a nice texture, a slight phenolic grip and a touch of residual sugar with a lingering finish that leaves a lasting impression.
Viticulture
From the Fechner bros. vineyard in Northern Eden Valley, Australia’s only Kerner site. First planted after a 2003 visit to Germany, these Riesling-cross vines grow through clay into limestone bedrock beside a quarry, boosting aromatics. A steady breeze keeps vines dry, enabling light-touch weed and disease control. GPS: 34° 28' 39" S 139° 4' 11" E
Vinification
The three varieties are machine harvested for gentle skin contact; Gewürztraminer gets a further 20-24 hours after crushing before pressing. Co-fermentation in temperature-controlled inox uses indigenous and selected yeasts to develop and protect aromas. No fining is used, with only minimal SO2 added before bottling.
Food Match
With all the aromatics and texture this wine calls for spice, Thai fish cakes, Pad thai or Laksa are your friends here.
