Tasting note
Alamos Malbec shows a deep purple colour with violet hues. It offers intense red fruit aromas with floral notes, and a rich palate of raspberry, subtle chocolate, and sweet spices from oak aging. Smooth tannins lead to a long, elegant finish.
Viticulture
A blend of three vineyards with different harvest times: Gualtallary 4,757 ft (1,450 m) elevation: aluvial origin. Gravel and limestone soil. Lunlunta 3,018 ft (920m) elevation: aluvial origin. Loamy clay in the topsoil. El Cepillo, Eugenio Bustos 3,593 ft (1,090 m) elevation: aluvial origin. Loam-sandy soil with thick calcareous layers.
Vinification
The must was cold soaked before fermenting in stainless steel tanks for 8–12 days at 26–29 °C, with regular pump-overs to extract colour and flavour. After malolactic fermentation, the wine aged 6–8 months in medium-toast French oak for a smooth, rounded finish.
