Tasting note
Catena Malbec Appellation Altamira is an elegant, mineral, slightly spicy Malbec with a deep texture and flavors born of the combination of intense sunlight and cool nights.
Viticulture
Paraje Altamira Vineyard: alluvial origin. Loamy soil, with rounded rocks on the bottom. 80% Sand -10% Clay -10% Silt.
Vinification
This wine goes through cold maceration at less than 50oF (10oC) of 3-8 days to extract aromas. The juice is then fermented for around 12-18 days with a total maceration of approximately 4-10 days. Elevage: 11-13 in 100% French Oak barrel. 25-40% new, second and third use barrels.
