Tasting note
Catena Alta Chardonnay has a bright greenish-yellow colour. The nose offers ripe white fruit aromas as pear and white peach, interwoven with delicate citrus and floral notes of jasmine. The mouthfeel is rich and concentrated, showing ripe pear, apple and apricot flavours with a light note of minerality.
Viticulture
Harvest time varies depending on each lot's soil composition. Harvest time can vary by several weeks between one lot and another within the same vineyard. Adrianna Vineyard, Lot 1: (1,450 m) elevation. Alluvial, gravelly with limestone deposits in the topsoil. Domingo Vineyard, Lot 7: (1,120 m) elevation. Surface is completely covered with gravel.
Vinification
Whole clusters are pressed, and then 100% fermented in 500 litre French oak barrels with natural yeasts at low temperatures. 12-24 days fermentation with wild yeats Battonage (low regime). 30% does not undergo malolactic fermentation. Aging for 10-14 months in French oak (in contact with the lees). Barrels of 1st, 2nd and 3rd use.
