Tasting note
Matas Altas is a village wine that marks the character of the old vineyards planted on Pie Franco in Fuente-Álamo. They are old vineyards in calcareous soils that mark a profile of wines with full maturity and concentration being at the same time fresh, agile and fine. Wines from warm days, cold nights and limestone.
In the press
This is Bodega Cerrón’s entry level wine in their Stratum range, and what a fabulous starting point! From a selection of Monastrell vines (co-planted with around 10% of other varieties) in Fuente Alamo between 850-940m. These are old vines, 50 to 80-years’-old, that bring concentration and complexity to this wine. Violets and Turkish Delight with red cherry fruit combine to produce a pure and precise red with fantastic vibrancy while a touch of blueberry and graphite culminate in a refreshing finish. Delicious! Drink 2024 - 2027
