Tasting note
Clear appearance, pale lemon-yellow colour with golden hints. Aveleda Alvarinho presents delicate aromas of grapefruit, orange leaf and white flowers. It is a very balanced and elegant white wine, surprisingly structured and velvety, with delicious notes of orange peel, pineapple and orange blossom. This wine presents a good acidity and depth in the mouth.
Viticulture
2022 was excellent for Vinho Verde, with grape production up around 50% and about 15,000 tons processed. Late-season rain helped vines recover from drought stress, while daily ripeness checks ensured ideal harvest timing. The wines are aromatic, citrusy, mineral, fresh, persistent and food-friendly.
Vinification
A distinctive Alvarinho from Portugal’s Vinho Verde region, showing the balance and character of this celebrated white grape. Night harvesting preserves freshness and aromatics, while gentle low-pressure pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation, stainless steel ageing and bottling retain its pure, vibrant style.
Food Match
Alvarinho pairs well with vegetables au gratin, oysters, asparagus with butter sauce, oily fish like tuna or salmon, shrimp bruschetta, raspberry cheesecake, and cheese-based dishes, thanks to its vibrant acidity and fruitiness.
