Tasting note
A luminous straw-yellow with bright greenish highlights. Expressive and aromatic, unfurling with refreshing notes of white blossoms, lime and white rock. Gentle swirling reveals complexities of tangy white peach, baked apple and subtle herbal nuances like fresh fennel. A full-bodied yet delicate palate that strikes a perfect balance between zesty joie de vivre and presence. Bright, mouth-watering acidity is beautifully balanced by a creamy, unctuous texture from lees ageing. You will discover layers of apricot, quince and a distinctive mineral, saline streak on the lingering finish.
Vineyard
Since the 13th Century, grapevines have been the only crop cultivated in the Avia Valley, this valley is a liquid landscape. Thermal hot springs and river streams surrounded by historical vineyards in the place where Ribeiro wine originated. Sábrego is the predominant type of soil, comprised of decomposed granite base with a mixture of clay and sand. A soil that takes on different shades and textures and is instrumental in defining different soil profiles in the region.
Viticulture
The Ribeiro region is characterized by a continental climate that is softened by the influence from the Atlantic Ocean which provokes great diurnal temperature swings from day to night that favor a slow ripening and preserve the aromatic components in the grapes.
Vinification
O Gran Mein Castes Brancas is made with local varieties. The grapes are harvested 12 kg boxes applying the colleteiro style. Cluster selection in the winery and whole cluster pressing. Only the first musts will be part O Gran Mein Castes Brancas. 12 months of aging in stainless steel, concrete, oak and demijohn.
